ABC TEAM EVENT CHAMPIONS RECEIVE AWARDS ON FIELD AT COMERICA PARK

Ewald, Fred Bauss and Joe Krajenke show off their awards at
Comerica Park in Detroit
The S&B Pro Shop team, winners of
the 2004 American Bowling Congress Team Event, received their
individual awards at ceremonies at Comerica Park in Detroit on
Monday prior to the Detroit Tigers game with the Chicago White Sox.
Team captain Joe Krajenke of Clinton
Township, sponsor Fred Bauss of Eastpointe, David Ewald of Warren,
Kerry Kreft of Madison Heights and Mark Moore of Macomb received
their Eagle trophies and watches for their title performance from
Mark Martin, Executive Director of the Greater Detroit Bowling
Association and a Director with the American Bowling Congress.
The team shot a score of
3,268 in the 101st Annual ABC Championship Tournament at
Reno, Nev. outdistancing 12,884 other teams. Individual scores were
Krajenke (713), Bauss (617), Ewald (690), Kreft (643) and Moore
(605).
"It was a great opportunity to
honor this great team for their accomplishment in front of a new
audience.", said Martin. "Detroit remains a bowling hotbed
and their victory helps cement Detroit as the Bowling Capital of the
World."
Many family and friends of the team
were among the crowd of 12,495 where the Detroit Tigers put an end
to a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the visiting
White Sox.
The S&B Pro Shop team will defend
their title in early March 2005 at the ABC Championship Tournament
at Baton Rouge, La.
Figures recently released put the
Greater Detroit Bowling Association first in membership among local
affiliates of the ABC with 52,736 members, far ahead of runner-up
Chicago with 25,782.
